Head Coach Lukas Smital with a message for Jets fans following the conclusion of the 23/24 season.
‘Hello Jets fans, I wanted to come on and express my heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported the team this season.
On Saturday we were 2nd best to a very good Chelmsford team, who ultimately went on to win the final, congratulations to Cliff and the team at Chelmsford for a very good weekend of hockey.
I personally think this season has been a huge success, you have seen the team finish higher in the league, make a cup final and progress to the final four playoff weekend. It’s easy to feel disappointment at the result in Alexandra Palace but to even get to the Final Four is a great achievement.
Our travelling fanbase has been unbelievable this season, often making as much noise as the home fans, and Alexandra Palace was no exception, the noise you made was fantastic and it never goes unnoticed.
At home we have seen record attendances, with many new Jets fans experiencing ice hockey for the first time, which is great to see and I look forward to seeing you all back at the Hangar next season.
I must thank all the people behind the scenes here at Slough, the off ice officials, our bench team, match night volunteers, the social media team, everyone who has contributed to the success of the team this year, thank you and I hope you are able to enjoy a well earned break this summer!
Our supporters club underwent a transformation this season, different lines of merchandise and Jets clothing have all been well received with thousands of pounds raised to help keep the team on the ice, so a huge thank you to Lisa and her team of volunteers who have helped to make it such a success.
To our sponsors, thank you for your support this season, we have welcomed new sponsors and maintained existing relationships, all of which have helped the club no end.
I would personally like to thank Matt Parsons, he is a person who really keeps this club together, taking care of all the finances, booking ice time and so much more. Matt has been a cornerstone for the Slough Jets since I joined the club and none of what we have achieved would have been possible without him.
Lastly, again to our fans, thank you so much for giving us your support this season. Not everything has gone our way but I believe we play a game of exciting, fast paced hockey that is both effective and entertaining.
No doubt you would have seen our announcements regarding Sebi Mohr, Jack Goodchild, Christian Mohr and Jacob Minter, who have all made the decision to commit to the team for another two seasons, make sure you keep your eyes on the Jets social media pages for more player announcements, I’ll be looking to strengthen the team in certain areas and Luke Reynolds and myself will be hard at work to put the right players on the ice ready for you all next season.
