Dick Bellamy returns with his thoughts following the game last weekend.
‘A powerplay goal by Seb Mohr after three and a half minutes began a six-goal rout in the first period and had the large, noisy Jets crowd wondering, could we get a 4th shutout in a row?
But the Jets added just three more to their tally in the middle period, including a hotly disputed powerplay goal by Timo Lindgren. After some discussions between the officials, the goal was eventually given.
Then, horror of horrors, the Jets were finally beaten, Matt Smital conceding his first of the competitive season at 38.18.
The scorer for the Cardiff Fire, Carter Lloyd, went on to take the team’s MOM award.
Cardiff then added a second on 51 minutes to make the score 9-2, but Lewis English responded almost immediately, The Jets MOM added his second for the night to kill off any thoughts of a comeback for the visitors.
Linemate Dylan Holicka then turned in a Harvey Harman shot from the point, but Brandon Miles scored perhaps the pick of the second period, with a smart finish from a lovely passing play by Holicka and Hemmings-Maher.
Miles and Spridgeon then both sat down and received 5 minutes for fighting on 54.04 following a goalmouth scramble.
A very entertaining game in front of an excellent crowd!
